Our mission is to provide students with excellent educational opportunities through access to high quality distance learning courses. Distance Learning courses are designed for students who, for a variety of reasons, are not able to attend regular on-campus classes. Through distance learning, we seek to expand our ministry by enriching the lives of a greater number of students while enhancing our “customer service” to our present student body.
Course Time Frames
Students may begin Distance Learning courses at three intervals during the year:
- September 15 (September 15 - January 15)
- January 15 (January 15 - May 15)
- May 15 (May 15 - September 15)
Courses must be completed within a four-month time-frame. Distance Learning Registration Forms must be submitted by one of the following dates, depending on intended semester of study: September 5th, January 5th or May 5th.
Applying for a Distance Learning Course
Students who have not previously enrolled at Heritage must complete the application process before commencing a Distance Learning course. Please refer to the Admissions section of this website or contact our Distance Learning Coordinator at

Biblical Studies
Hermeneutics (Biblical Interpretation) - Dr. David Barker (DVD)
An introduction to the foundational issues of biblical hermeneutics (the art and science of interpretation). Its intent is to develop competency in biblical interpretation.
Progress of Redemption - Dr. Barry Howson (DVD)
A presentation of the Christological redemptive plan from Genesis to Revelation – from Creation and the Fall to Redemption to the New Creation. The study focuses on the unfolding of God’s plan of restoration and gives attention to not only the unity of the Bible, but also its literary, cultural and temporal diversity.
New Testament Survey - Dr. John McLean (Audio)
A survey of the background, themes, and doctrine of each NT book in chronological sequence. Students are introduced to the gospel, historical, epistolary, and apocalyptic literature of the first century, as well as the progressive development of biblical theology through each book.
John - Mr. John Korkidakis (DVD)
This course is a detailed exposition of John’s gospel. Attention is given to John’s unique purpose as well as the background against which he is writing. Exposition of the text emphasizes its contribution to Christology.
Romans - Dr. Barry Howson (DVD)
The course involves exposition of the Epistle of Romans with attention to setting and background, biblical theology, significant interpretive questions, and key vocabulary and themes.
Revelation - Dr. William Webb (DVD)
A study of the final and somewhat unique book of the canon, Revelation. Emphasis is placed on the genre issue, different hermeneutical approaches to the book, the millennial question, the book’s literary structure and artistry, and its high Christology.
Old Testament Survey - Dr. John McLean (Audio)
A survey of the background, themes, and doctrine of each OT book in chronological sequence. Students are introduced to historical, legal, poetical, and prophetical literature that was written by the Jewish people between 1500 B.C. – 400 A.D.
Genesis - Dr. Gord Oeste (DVD)
This course examines key narratives in the book of Genesis by looking at their literary structure, their theological connections, and their setting in the ancient Near East, as well as how these narratives can be relevant to our 21st century world.
Isaiah - Mr. Jon Korkidakis (DVD)
An exposition of Isaiah based upon a careful analysis of the book with a view to understanding the message and theology for the people of God both then and now.
Theological Studies
Worldviews, Christianity & Culture - Dr. Barry Howson (DVD)
An investigation into the anthropological concept of worldviews, including an analysis of culture in its various aspects as these relate to forms, structures, and meanings. Special attention is given to communicating the gospel and to Christian transformational change at the worldview level.
Introduction to Christian Theology 1 - Dr. Stanley Fowler (DVD)
A survey of Christian doctrine from an evangelical perspective concerning the nature and method of theology, the attributes and works of God, the Trinity, humanity, sin, and the person and work of Christ.
Introduction to Christian Theology 2 - Dr. Stanley Fowler (DVD)
An introduction to Christian doctrine dealing with the person and work of the Holy Spirit, God’s work of salvation in individuals, the church as the corporate expression of salvation, and the completion of salvation at the end of this age.
General Education
Ancient Near Eastern & Greco/Roman History - Dr. Paul Wilson (DVD)
An introduction to the social and cultural history of biblical civilizations with a focus on Israel and Rome. Students are also introduced to the Sumerians, Assyrians, Persians, Caananites, Philistines, Moabites, Edomites, Egyptians.
History of Western Civilization 1 - Dr. Paul Wilson (VHS)
An overview of the social, cultural, political, and economic history of Western Civilization from early development to the Renaissance.
History of Western Civilization 2 - Dr. Paul Wilson (DVD)
An overview of the social, cultural, political, intellectual, and economic history of Western Civilization from 1500 to 1945.
