Financial Information – Financial Aid

Student Assistance Programs
Government loans are available from two sources: the Federal government and the Provincial government. When applying for a government loan, please keep in mind that ALL MONIES RECEIVED FROM GOVERNMENT STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS MUST BE REPAID.
 
Tips for Applying
All applications require a minimum of four to six weeks to process, so be sure to apply early!

Student Assistance Programs

 

1. OSAP – Ontario Student Assistance Program

*Financial Assistance may be available for those who qualify* to students enrolled in the:
  • One Year Certificate
  • Two Year Certificate
  • Bachelor of Religious Education Degree
  • (includes B.R.E.P., B.R.S., and B.C.S.E.) 
  • Bachelor of Theology Degree 
  • Bachelor of Church Music Degree

Programs may be eligible, if qualified, for assistance under one or more of the following components of the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP):

  • a) The Canada Student Loans Program (CSL)
  • b) The Ontario Student Loans Program (OSL)

OSAP applications are available online. There is no charge for an online application. You will be required to present your Social Insurance Card and valid photo identification for every OSAP transaction.

2. Out of Province Assistance

Each year, students may complete an application for financial assistance in their home province. All applications require a minimum of four to six weeks to process, so be sure to apply early. All provinces have access for students to apply online.

3. Veteran’s Assistance

Heritage students have been approved by the U.S. Veteran’s Assistance for the payment of benefits. Students should apply early as the student’s program must be evaluated by the Veteran’s Administration.

Heritage has qualified in certain cases as a retraining program under WSIB. An individual considering obtaining funding assistance through WSIB should speak with his or her WSIB Counsellor.
Heritage, being a degree-granting institution, is recognized by the First Nations as an institution of post-secondary education. Qualifying students may be eligible for funding assistance from their band council. Details, specifics, and qualifications on the above are available from the Financial Office.
